One of Houston’s biggest events of the year, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, is finally upon us. It started this week and runs through March 22nd. As we mentioned in our January 17th post, there is a great line-up this year, and a lot of fun to be had.
Rodeo Houston is the world’s largest live entertainment and livestock exhibition, and one of the best regular-season rodeo events. It began in the 1930’s under the name The Houston Fat Stock Show and Live Exhibition (the name was changed to Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in 1961), and has been a part of the fabric of Houston’s rich history ever since.
It features, in addition to livestock exhibitions and exciting rodeo events, fantastic live entertainment happening nightly with great artists from a variety of genres. You don’t have to be “country” to have a good time. This year’s lineup includes non-country artists John Legend, Fall Out Boy, Pitbull, and Ariana Grande, among others. Of course, if you are the country type, you are also in for some great shows, including Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton, Zac Brown Band, Luke Bryan, and more.
